The TLN Board has approved revisions to our "reciprocal borrowing" program that allows library card holders from libraries in the cooperative to walk-in and borrow books from other libraries in TLN. The revisions of the policy are meant to make the program easier to use, with the support of TLN to make it happen. Along with revising the policy it has been rebranded Check It Out! with The Library Network.

Per Michigan Public Act 89 of 1977, to be in a cooperative library, a local library shall loan materials to other libraries participating in the cooperative and maintain an open-door policy to the residents of the state. "Residents of the cooperative library's area are eligible to use the facilities and resources of the member libraries subject to the rules of the cooperative library plan."*

Anyone with a current library card from a participating library can walk-in and borrow materials on site from another participating library in The Library Network. Your library card must be unrestricted and in good standing. Please contact a library to find out if they participate and for specific participation details.

A list of participating libraries can be found online at: TLN.org/checkitout
