Academic Scholarships
ALA Century Scholarship
Annual scholarship that funds services or accommodations for a library school student(s) with disabilities admitted to an ALA-accredited library school.
Funding Source: American Library Association
Funding Amount: $2,500
Residency Requirements: Citizen of United States or Canada
Demographic Requirements: Identification of applicant’s disability and how it affects his or her ability to complete a course of study.
Other Requirements: Century Scholarship applicants must provide medical documentation of their disability or disabilities, services, or accommodations and/or services the applicant would need for their studies,
demonstrate the need for financial assistance

Annual scholarship for someone who is pursuing an MLS specializing in public library service in an ALA-accredited program.
Funding Source: American Library Association. This scholarship was made as a bequest from the estate of Julia Jussim Brody who began her distinguished career at the New York Public Library as a children’s librarian.

Funding Source: Kalamazoo Community Foundation. Named for a former library assistant in Teen Services at Kalamazoo Public Library.
Funding Amount: $4,500 per semester if attending as a full-time student and $2,000 - $3,000 per semester if attending as a part-time student.

Other Requirements: Applicants must have an undergraduate degree or be within a year of graduation when applying. Graduate school enrollment status will be at least part-time and must be pursing the Library and
Information Sciences school accredited by the ALA.
The scholarship will award one LIS student from each National Association of Librarians of Color organization with a scholarship to support them as they pursue a graduate degree (MA, MS, or PhD) in the library sciences.
The purpose of the Virginia Mathews Memorial Scholarship shall be to provide tuition to an American Indian individual who lives and/or works in the American Indian community, and who is enrolled, or has been accepted and will enroll,
in a master’s degree program at a university with a library and/or information sciences program accredited by the American Library Association.

their EMU education to support the mission of libraries and related institutions.

The Michigan Achievement Scholarship helps graduating high school seniors attend a college or university in the state of Michigan.
